Montréal is often known as the blue and green city – with good reason! Montréal is an island and, in the city and along it’s shores, there are 17 parks with an area of nearly 2,000 hectares. The city’s parks have always been gathering places for Montrealers to enjoy recreational, educational and cultural activities, sports and other outdoor pastimes, as well as large festivals. Some of them, the nature parks, have a very special mission that includes environmental conservation, architectural heritage and diverse plant and animal life.
